A Picturesque Bungalow in Bali’s Jungle

Vacation Bungalow: Lost Villa, Bali

Schiltach, November 2025. The Lost Villa is a serene retreat nestled on a plot of old-growth jungle in Bali. Dreamed up by seasoned blogger Christian LeBlanc, the six-bedroom home expresses his admiration for the island and unique journey in getting there. “I started off as an accountant, working nine-to-five,” Christian explains. “I felt a lack of inspiration and creativity and needed an escape.” In search of the extraordinary, he “picked up a GoPro, started traveling, and committed to making a video every day.” Some years of jet setting later, Christian slowly settled in Bali and drawn to the island’s breathtaking nature and inspiring energy, decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of building his own home.

Christian’s purchase of the Lost Villa site was equal parts luck and perseverance: “During the pandemic, I rode around on my motorbike asking locals if they or their families had land. After a few days, I found it: this wild jungle plot, which is now this sanctuary with towering trees—some over 100 years old.” From there on, Christian began a years-long process of developing the Lost Villa, piece by piece, into an extraordinary residence. Naturally, Christian selected AXOR for the bathrooms of this deeply personal project.

Blue and Green Everywhere

LeBlanc collaborated with Romania-based Singleart Design & Architecture to create an immersive design inspired by Bali’s rich nature and local craftsmanship. “Everything is blue and green,” LeBlanc explains, from the infinity pool and volcanic rock koi pond to a soaring treehouse and rooftop garden laden with bougainvillea flowers. LeBlanc’s own neighbor, an expert craftsman, hand carved doors, beams and shelving with wood sourced from decommissioned boats, docks and bridges. A host of curated objects—handmade Jakarta carpets, bespoke coffee tables by Singleart and mouth-blown pendant lights from Christian’s native Toronto—rounds out the space.

AXOR: An Inspiring Match

When LeBlanc first discovered AXOR at Salone del Mobile in Milan, he was immediately inspired: “I thought, this is Lost Villa. The designs felt like they grew out of the earth.” An ensemble of AXOR fixtures throughout the home reflects his artful interpretation. In one corner, a floor-standing AXOR Starck Organic bath thermostat services a monolithic stone soaking tub; its sensuous shape echoing the lush greenery around it. In another, guests can discover a secluded powder room, its emerald marble displaying a faucet with the swirling vortex of AXOR Starck V in Brushed Bronze—“a collection that feels experimental, elegant, and totally aligned with our space.”

Keen on ensuring “every space has its own palette and story,” Christian called in the services of AXOR FinishPlus to create matching finishes for each private bathroom’s unique palette of stone. A master bathroom matches elegant Italian marble with fixtures from the AXOR MyEdition collection shown in Brushed Bronze, finished with a custom black walnut plate. A different bedroom’s bathroom pairs Iranian platinum travertine with an AXOR Uno washbasin faucet and an AXOR Overhead Showers arrangement in contrasting Brushed Black Chrome.

Escaping the Ordinary

To Christian, the AXOR slogan ‘Escape the Ordinary’ has a special meaning. “That’s my whole story,” he admits. “Leaving a 9-to-5, chasing a dream no one really believed in at the time.” More than just an alluring home, the Lost Villa is a unique monument to Christian’s story; an inspiration to anyone who shares his love for hospitality and philosophy on design: “It’s a feeling. When you walk into a space it just feels right. When the details don’t scream for attention, but you notice them anyway. When the space improves with time. That’s what we’ve created.”
