AXOR MyEdition Competition: A Dream Come True for Architects and Designers

Designs from South Africa, England and Germany
Schiltach, March 2021. AXOR Places, a brand campaign that explored the places of memory of famous AXOR design partners and architects, began exactly one year ago. The idea for this campaign was as simple as it was obvious: a piece of the world makes its way into the bathroom. The campaign period ended with a design competition for architects and designers in the fall of 2020; participating markets included South Africa, England and Germany. In order to show the great creative potential of the AXOR MyEdition collection, AXOR asked architects and designers to combine their inspirations from private or professional life with the design of a personal AXOR MyEdition mounting plate. The results were many exciting designs and artistic approaches - each one as different as the personalities from which they stem. The jury, consisting of Andreas Diefenbach, Managing Partner Phoenix Design, Anke Sohn, Head of Global Brand Marketing AXOR, Stefan Hoske, Senior Consultant Architecture & Design AXOR, as well as the respective managing directors of the Hansgrohe subsidiaries in the participating markets, witnessed in an exemplary way how multi-layered the design of AXOR MyEdition can be.

The winning German design by Augsburg architect and interior designer Katrin Engl refers to Icelandic nature: a photograph taken at the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon, near the so-called "Diamond Beach" in the south of Iceland served as inspiration for her mounting plate. Art lovers will get their money's worth with Dutch artist Pablo Lücker. The graduate of the renowned Design Academy in Eindhoven used a laser engraving technique to incorporate his signature into the AXOR My Edition mounting plate in such a high-quality way, without losing sight of the practical aspect. The design 'Water Scapes' by CY+YA Collective from England focuses on the dynamic but subtle interaction of sound and water.

AXOR MyEdition Realizes Faucets According to own Wishes

The Stuttgart-based design studio, Phoenix Design, is responsible for the design of the AXOR MyEdition collection. The special feature: a neutral mounting plate that makes it possible to apply one's own individually selected material to the faucet. With the support of an on-site material specialist, the personal statement becomes a meaningful narrative. "The longing for the personal, one’s own, the unmistakable, drives us all. At the end of this development, the personalized product inspires," explains Andreas Diefenbach, Managing Partner of Phoenix Design.
