Shaping, aesthetics, style: There are many synonyms for the word design. At the Hansgrohe Group, design stands for more than good-looking faucets, shower outfitting, and accessories. With our brands AXOR and hansgrohe, we focus on premium product quality, successful product design, and optimum customer benefit in cooperation with renowned designers.

Form Follows Perfection. The AXOR brand slogan brings the Hansgrohe Group’s design aspirations to the point. By the keyword "design," we don’t only mean a product’s external appearance. Rather, behind the word stands an entire product philosophy.

For us, it’s about the bathroom experience with faucets, showers, and accessories that have been thought through down to the smallest detail, both in terms of form and function. We develop products that give the user joy for a long time, as they function even after many years of use. At the same time, it is important to us that our customers can rely on our flair for product design and feel that their bathroom investment – usually over a period of 20 years – will outlive short-lived fashions. Good design has a timeless charisma. Good design never goes out of fashion.

New standards

We work with internationally renowned designers who are among the best in their field. Together, they create products that revolutionize the bathroom and break new ground in the design of bathroom products: Like in 1974, when Hansgrohe introduced the Tri Bel colored shower together with Esslinger-Design. With this shower we created a new understanding of the bathroom, which until then had been a dreary, wet cell for most people.

We also set new standards in bathroom design in 1994 with the AXOR Starck collection, designed by Philippe Starck. A design classic today, back then it was new in its operation and minimalistic design, and now ranks among the bestselling designer faucets.

In 2003, Hansgrohe and Phoenix Design produced the Raindance, a new archetype of the shower, which has become indispensable in the modern bathroom ever since. Together with Phoenix Design, we also created the hansgrohe C71 kitchen sink combinations, which we presented for the first time in 2017. These sinks combine premium design stainless steel with a hansgrohe kitchen faucet. The intuitive operating concept and sophisticated technical accessories brought the hansgrohe brand the "Red Dot: Best of the Best" Award for Highest Design Quality

These are just three of the many design innovations that have set new standards in bathroom design and for which we have received numerous awards. More than 500 international prizes confirm that we’re doing things right. Good design goes beyond pure form. It’s not just a means to an end. At AXOR and hansgrohe, good design is directly linked to customer benefit. Only when design and functionality harmonize perfectly and our customers enjoy our faucets, showers, and accessories at length do they offer true added value.

From our point of view, the highest design quality requires creative minds who can look beyond the boundaries of the sanitation industry and set new impulses with their view from the outside. With us, they will find a design culture that is deeply rooted in the entire company and a comprehensive understanding of product design. Only this way is it possible for us, together with our external design partners, to produce innovations that make us trend-setters in the industry. 

We benefit from the experience of renowned designers such as Philippe StarckAntonio CitterioJean-Marie MassaudPatricia UrquiolaFrontNendo, and Barber & Osgerby. They incorporate their knowledge as architects or designers from other industries into our product development. Since the early eighties, Hansgrohe has been associated with Phoenix Design in an intensive partnership that has produced more than 248 design awards alone. The design studio from Stuttgart, with offices in Munich and Shanghai, is among the best addresses in the world for product design. Phoenix Design received the distinction of "Red Dot: Design Team of the Year 2018." 

Another source of inspiration are the AXOR WaterDreams. AXOR is staging concept studies for futurology in the bathroom with young designers, students, and well-known design greats. In 2016, we joined Front, Jean-Marie Massaud, Werner Aisslinger, GamFratesi, and David Adjaye to create innovative, unique pieces - for which they experimented with new materials and production processes.
