Join-in action for everyone: KinzigCleanUp is active environmental protection

The next cleanup of the Kinzig shore will take place on Saturday, September 10, 2022

Schiltach, September 2022. According to the German Federal Environment Agency, there are now an average of 13,000 plastic waste particles floating on every square kilometer of ocean surface. Carelessly discarded trash reaches the ocean via our rivers, among other sources. The 93 kilometers of trash that accumulate on the banks of the Kinzig River also make their way from the Black Forest via the Upper Rhine Plain and the Rhine into the sea. Against this backdrop, the RhineCleanUp initiative is organizing the next KinzigCleanUp campaign on September 10, to which committed volunteers are invited to ensure a cleaner environment virtually right on their own doorstep. In the Schiltach region, the faucet and shower manufacturer Hansgrohe, whose headquarters and production plant are located directly on the Kinzig River, is getting involved. Employees are called upon to get together in small groups between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. to clear the banks of the Kinzig of trash.

Participation is easy

Along the entire length of the Kinzig River, there are many opportunities to form your own CleanUp groups and collect trash. The association Schwarzwald Tourismus Kinzigtal e.V. and its member towns and communities support the initiative. Anyone who is interested and would like to get involved on September 10, 2022 for local nature but also for the preservation of global ecosystems can find more information online at www.kinzigcleanup.org.
