Even in the Digital Age, Hansgrohe Continues to Focus on Design

World Day of Design April 27, 2019
Schiltach, April 2019. Throughout its now 118-year history, the Hansgrohe Group has always demonstrated its unwavering commitment to design. The company sets standards in the shaping of bathroom environments – the more than 600 design prizes underscore the Group’s creative strength. Its two brands AXOR and hansgrohe, each in their own way, bring together functionality and design, aesthetic minimalism and outstanding craftsmanship in production – and they achieve this on a global scale.

RainTunes: Design and Digitalization Form a Single Unit

With its new product, RainTunes, the hansgrohe brand uses intelligent networking to satisfy the changing needs of its customers. A fusion of product and technical design that merges shower fittings and controls into a single design environment. In collaboration with its longstanding creative partner Phoenix Design, an App was developed to generate and control individual scenarios in which water, light, sound and fragrance interact, creating an entirely novel shower experience.

Unique Design for the Ultimate in Luxury

With AXOR Edge, the design brand AXOR places its focus on architectonic design. AXOR Edge was born from a vision to break new ground, driven by the high demands of the brand’s discerning customers. Jean-Marie Massaud came up with an exceptional idea that resulted in the perfect symbiosis of masterly design, quality and innovative manufacturing. The cube is the defining stylistic element and is featured throughout the entire collection. A completely new method of manufacturing was developed to produce the high-gloss surfaces and precisely milled chamfers. A state-of-the-art diamond cutting tool produces an unparalleled reflection of light on the faucet’s diamond-like surfaces and the perfect arrangement of their three-dimensional pyramids.

Sophisticated Design is the Result of Teamwork

Collaboration with external designers is the cornerstone of the Hansgrohe Group’s continued successes in the industry. With Phoenix Design at its side for more than three decades, the hansgrohe brand has a creative partner who exerts a defining influence on the brand’s product lines through the external impulses it contributes. By collaborating with internationally-acclaimed star designers such as Philippe Starck and Jean-Marie Massaud, the AXOR brand consolidates its role as a trendsetter and highlights its pursuit of perfection.

“The development of new products relies on teamwork: designers and developers both bring ideas to the table. There are no hierarchies, blinders or constraints – only in this way can bold concepts and ideas move forward and result in a final product,” says Juergen Gross, Vice President of Product Development, talking about the design process. “The development process always starts with people and their individual likes and needs.”
