hansgrohe Announces Partnership with Home Connect Plus

For Even More Relaxing Moments and Safety at Home

Schiltach, June 2021. Whether smart speakers, automated lighting systems or the intelligent water manager hansgrohe Pontos - smart home technologies not only provide more comfort and security, they also save time and make life easier. However, the, often complex, control of devices, the multitude of different apps from different manufacturers, and a lack of compatibility, thwarts the quality of life gained. For even more comfort and security in one’s home, the premium brand from the Black Forest is now a partner of the Home Connect Plus network: The smart water management system hansgrohe Pontos, which warns of water damage in the home and collects data on water consumption and room climate, can intuitively be connected to the central platform and controlled and automated in a user-friendly way with other smart home applications from different providers. And homeowners don't have to be smart home experts or technicians. The platform was developed by Residential IoT Services GmbH, a start-up of Robert Bosch GmbH. The Home Connect Plus app has been available free of charge in app stores in Germany and Austria since spring 2021.

Good Feelings Included – Even While Travelling!

The full potential of hansgrohe and the Home Connect Plus partner network results from the interaction of different devices - entirely tailored to the user’s needs. For example, the customers can define their personal 'vacation scenario' and, in the event of a detected leakage, stop the flow of water and grant selected third parties access to the house. In addition, it can be specified that all smart electronic devices in the room are switched off in the event of a water leak. The core function of the Home Connect Plus App is therefore individualized automation. Entirely in line with personal daily routines and needs, these can be created in just a few steps and activated by time control, if desired. With Home Connect Plus as a partner, we are putting users at the center of control, and we can work on many exciting use cases for the Pontos system." Other Home Connect Plus partners include Philips Hue - also part of hansgrohe's RainTunes digital shower system - Bosch, Sonos, Tado and Homematic IP. "Smart home can be much more than a technical gimmick. With Home Connect Plus, we want to make smart networking and orchestration of devices part of the reality of life. This is only possible in cooperation with many partners, and we are pleased to welcome hansgrohe to our network," explains Lauri Pesonen, CEO of Residential IoT Services GmbH, the company behind Home Connect Plus.

Pontos Scout and Pontos Base: The Smart Water Managers

The Pontos smart water management system with the Pontos Scout and Pontos Base is designed to improve the quality of living by measuring important room data such as humidity and temperature, while enabling safety in one's home by providing preventive protection against expensive water damage. The Pontos Scout, a small water sensor, emits an acoustic warning signal in case of water leakage and informs about the leakage by sending a warning message to the connected hansgrohe home App. The eight-centimeter puck also provides information about humidity and room temperature and warns of frost. Homeowners receive double security against water damage with an additional installation of the Pontos Base. The product is connected directly to the central water line. The Pontos Base checks pipes for conspicuous water consumption indicating leaks. In case of possible damage, the Base automatically closes the water supply, immediately informs about the incident via smartphone and signals deviations on the device display. The Pontos Base also supports water management by measuring consumption and generating statistics on the smartphone. The information provided increases awareness of sustainable use of water as a resource.
